🖥️ Scruffy’s Digital Journy — Shutting Down Your Computer
Hi, I’m Scruffy. After learning how to explore files and stay safe online, Christopher showed me something very important: how to properly turn off the computer. At first, I thought I could just press the power button. But Christopher reminded me: shutting down the right way
keeps the computer healthy and safe.
🌀 Step‑by‑Step Guide: Shutting Down Windows
Step 1: Save Your Work
Before shutting down, make sure to save any documents, pictures, or files you’re working on.
Close programs by clicking the X in the top‑right corner.
Step 2: Open the Start Menu
Move your mouse to the bottom‑left corner of the screen.
Left‑click the Start Menu (Windows icon).
Step 3: Find the Power Button
In the Start Menu, look for the Power icon (a circle with a line at the top).
Left‑click it.
Step 4: Choose Shut Down
A small menu will appear with options like Sleep, Restart, and Shut Down.
Left‑click Shut Down.
Step 5: Wait for the Computer to Turn Off
The screen will go dark.
Lights on the computer will switch off.
Now it’s safe to close the lid (on a laptop) or switch off the monitor.
🖱️ Scruffy’s Shutdown Challenge
"Christopher gave me a challenge to practice. You can try it too:"
Save a file in Documents.
Close all programs.
Open the Start Menu.
Click the Power icon.
Choose Shut Down.
Watch the computer turn off safely.
✨ Scruffy’s Reflection
At first, I thought pressing the power button was enough. But Christopher reminded me: shutting down properly is like saying goodnight to your computer. Now I know how to close the day safely.
