🔒 Scruffy’s Digital Journy — Locking Your Computer

Hi, I’m Scruffy. Christopher explained that sometimes you don’t want to shut down, but you also don’t want anyone else to see your files. That’s when you use Lock. Locking your computer is like closing the door — your work stays safe, but no one else can get in without the password.

🌀 Why Locking Matters

  • At Home: Keeps your files safe if you step away.

  • In a Library or Community Space: Prevents strangers from accessing your account.

  • Quick & Secure: Your programs stay open, but the screen is locked until you sign back in.

🌀 Step‑by‑Step Guide: Locking Your Computer (Windows)

Method 1: Keyboard Shortcut

  1. Press Windows Key + L on the keyboard.

  2. The screen will lock instantly.

  3. To unlock, type your password or PIN.

Method 2: Start Menu

  1. Save your work.

  2. Left‑click the Start Menu (Windows icon).

  3. Click your profile picture/account name.

  4. Choose Lock.

  5. The computer will return to the login screen.

🖱️ Scruffy’s Lock Challenge

"Christopher gave me a challenge to practice. You can try it too:"

  1. Open a document in Word or Notepad.

  2. Press Windows + L to lock the computer.

  3. Notice how the screen goes to the login page.

  4. Sign back in with your password.

  5. See your document still open — safe and waiting for you.

✨ Scruffy’s Reflection

At first, I thought shutting down was the only way to protect my computer. But Christopher reminded me: locking is faster. Now I know how to keep my files safe at home or in a library.
