⌨️ Scruffy’s Digital Journy — Connecting a Keyboard
Hi, I’m Scruffy. Christopher explained that a keyboard is the tool that lets you type letters, numbers, and commands into the computer. At first, I thought it might be tricky to connect. But Christopher reminded me: it’s simple, and there are three main types — wired, wireless with USB receiver, and Bluetooth.
🌀 Wired Keyboard (USB)
Find a USB Port
Look for a rectangular slot on your computer (side of a laptop or back of a desktop).
Plug It In
Insert the keyboard’s USB connector into the port.
Wait a Moment
Windows will automatically detect the keyboard.
Test It
Type a word (like Scruffy) to check it works.
🌀 Wireless Keyboard (USB Receiver)
Insert the Receiver
Plug the small USB dongle into a USB port.
Turn On the Keyboard
Flip the switch underneath to “On.”
Check the Battery
Make sure the keyboard has batteries installed.
Test It
Type a word to check it works.
🌀 Bluetooth Keyboard (No Receiver)
Turn On the Keyboard
Flip the switch underneath to “On.”
Open Bluetooth Settings
On Windows, go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices.
Add Device
Click Add device and choose Bluetooth.
Select Your Keyboard
Choose the keyboard from the list.
Test It
Type a word to check it works.
🖱️ Scruffy’s Keyboard Challenge
"Christopher gave me a challenge to practice. You can try it too:"
Plug in a wired keyboard.
Type Scruffy’s Digital Journy.
Try a wireless keyboard with a USB receiver.
Finally, connect a Bluetooth keyboard through Settings.
✨ Scruffy’s Reflection
At first, I thought connecting a keyboard was complicated. But Christopher reminded me: it’s just plug‑and‑play for wired, or a quick setup for wireless. Now I know how to connect any keyboard safely.
