🖥️ Scruffy’s Digital Journy — Exploring the Desktop
Hi, I’m Scruffy. Once I learned how to log in with my password, Christopher showed me the desktop. At first, I didn’t know what all the little pictures meant. It looked busy and confusing. But Christopher explained that the desktop is just like a desk at home — a place where you keep your tools, folders, and shortcuts.
🌀 Step‑by‑Step Guide: Understanding the Desktop
Step 1: The Background (Wallpaper)
This is the picture or colour behind everything.
It doesn’t do anything, but it makes your computer feel personal.
Step 2: Icons
Small pictures on the desktop that represent programs, files, or folders.
Double‑click an icon to open it.
Step 3: The Taskbar
The bar at the bottom of the screen.
Shows the Start button, open programs, and the clock.
You can pin your favourite apps here for quick access.
Step 4: The Start Menu
Click the Start button (Windows symbol) to see all your programs.
This is where you find apps like Word, Excel, or Settings.
Step 5: The System Tray
On the right side of the taskbar.
Shows the time, Wi‑Fi, sound, and other quick settings.
✨ Scruffy’s Reflection
At first, I thought the desktop was too complicated. But Christopher reminded me: it’s just your digital desk. Once I learned what each part was for, I felt more confident. Now I know where to find things, and the computer feels like my own space.
