🖱️ Scruffy’s Digital Journy — Connecting a Mouse

Hi, I’m Scruffy. Christopher explained that a mouse is the tool that lets you move the pointer on the screen and click things. At first, I thought it was complicated to connect. But Christopher reminded me: it’s simple, and there are two main types — wired and wireless.

🌀 Wired Mouse (USB)

  1. Find a USB Port

    • Look for a rectangular slot on your computer (usually on the side of a laptop or back of a desktop).

  2. Plug It In

    • Insert the mouse’s USB connector into the port.

  3. Wait a Moment

    • Windows will automatically detect the mouse.

  4. Test It

    • Move the mouse — the pointer should move on the screen.

🌀 Wireless Mouse (USB Receiver)

  1. Insert the Receiver

    • Plug the small USB dongle into a USB port.

  2. Turn On the Mouse

    • Flip the switch underneath the mouse to “On.”

  3. Check the Battery

    • Make sure the mouse has batteries installed.

  4. Test It

    • Move the mouse — the pointer should move.

🌀 Bluetooth Mouse (No Receiver)

  1. Turn On the Mouse

    • Flip the switch underneath to “On.”

  2. Open Bluetooth Settings

    • On Windows, go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices.

  3. Add Device

    • Click Add device and choose Bluetooth.

  4. Select Your Mouse

    • Choose the mouse from the list.

  5. Test It

    • Move the mouse — the pointer should move.

🖱️ Scruffy’s Mouse Challenge

"Christopher gave me a challenge to practice. You can try it too:"

  1. Plug in a wired mouse.

  2. Move the pointer to test it.

  3. Try a wireless mouse with a USB receiver.

  4. Finally, connect a Bluetooth mouse through Settings.
