šŸ“‚ Files and Folders

Your laptop stores everything you create or download as files. Files can be documents, pictures, music, or anything else. To keep them organised, you place them into folders — just like putting papers into a filing cabinet.

🧭 Files

  • A fileĀ is one piece of work (like a letter, photo, or song).

  • Each file has a nameĀ and a typeĀ (for example, holiday.jpgĀ for a photo).

  • Files live inside folders on your computer.

šŸ“ Folders

  • A folderĀ is a container that holds files.

  • You can create folders to organise your work (like ā€œSchoolworkā€ or ā€œPhotosā€).

  • Inside folders, you can make subfoldersĀ for even more organisation.

šŸ–ļø Practice Ideas

  • Open the File ExplorerĀ (yellow folder icon on the taskbar).

  • Click on DocumentsĀ and create a new folder called Practice.

  • Inside Practice, create a simple text file and name it Hello.txt.

  • Try moving the file into another folder by dragging it.

🌟 Tips

  • Give files and folders clear names so you can find them later.

  • Don’t worry if things get messy — you can always tidy up by moving files around.

  • Use the Search barĀ in File Explorer if you can’t find something.

šŸ’” Remember: files are your work, and folders are where you keep them safe and organised.
